The Cribs Reveal That Camden Is A Major Influence Ahead Of Camden Crawl

Indie rockers The Cribs have spoken about their excitement for their up and coming slot at this year's Camden Crawl festival, and revealed how Camden was vital in the band signing its first record deal.

The band will play the festival, which takes place in bars and clubs across Camden on May 4th-6th, and release their fifth studio album within the same couple of weeks, and have confessed that Camden itself has had a major influence on them from the off. Speaking to NME, bassist and vocalist Gary Jarman explained why the district of Camden means so much to them.

“The first show that we ever played outside of Wakefield was in Camden,” Jarman revealed. “We played at The Barfly. We got signed that very night... We played a pretty ramshackle gig at The Barfly, but we got signed outside right there and then. We'd come down to Camden every night. I really feel like not so much London, but Camden specifically had a real influence on that album.”

He added: “I like to play places with a bit of history. The only thing that excites or interests me is playing the new stuff – [but] we've also been enjoying playing old songs at the minute.”
