Adele Leads Ivor Novello Award Nominations

Organisers of this year's Ivor Novello Awards have revealed the nominees for this year's ceremony, which is set to take place on Thursday May 17th.

The 57th annual awards show, which celebrates British music and songwriting, will see a range of artists and celebrities descending upon London's Grosvenor House, and looks like it will continue Adele's domination of music award shows – as she's in contention to pick up four gongs at the ceremony.

Her track 'Rolling in the Deep' has earned her a nomination for 'Best Song Musically and Lyrically', as well as for 'Most Performed Work' – for which 'Someone Like You' has also been given a nod. Her sophomore album '21' has also unsurprisingly received a nomination, this time for the 'Album Award'.

Adele will be competing with Florence and the Machine and Ed Sheeran for the 'Best Song' gong, whilst she only faces Take That for the 'Most Performed Work' accolade. '21' takes on Kate Bush's '50 Words for Snow' and PJ Harvey's 'Let England Shake' in the album stakes.

The Ivor Novello Awards first started in 1955 and are named after a Welsh singer, songwriter and composer of the same name. The awards look more specifically at British songwriting and composing, giving an alternative to the usual, more mainstream music award ceremonies we see today.
