Tim Burgess, frontman of indie rockers The Charlatans, has released a tell-all biography that features some of the crazy hijinks that he got up to in his hey-day- like ‘blowing coke up each other’s arses’!
‘Telling Stories’ is a revealing insight to the life of a wild rockstar, and tells many of the incredible stories that fans would only usually hear in rumours and rock n’ roll folklore. One of the stories in the book stands out, though – the one which depicts band members ‘blowing coke’ where the sun don’t shine.
“We discovered the process of blowing coke up each other’s arses,” Burgess wrote in the candid book. “There, I have said it. It's not like we invented the practice but I realise now it’s not an everyday thing for most people.”
He went on to explain that the practice was known as ‘Manhattan-powdered donuts’ – and said: “Not every member of The Charlatans took part in this highly-charged ritual, which has been described as having 'a Manhattan-powdered doughnut'. I was a giver and receiver. They say giving is better than receiving, but believe me, in this case the giving is not that great.”
