Blur's Alex James Living 'The Monk's Life' With New Beer Brewery

Blur bassist Alex James has opened up about his life following his decision to venture into beer brewing – and has likened the lifestyle to that of a monk!

The star is a well known maker of cheese amongst other things and has now begun brewing beer at his farm. But, while you may think a rockstar that brews his own beer is rather fond of a good party, James has revealed that he's more comparable to a monk than a party animal.

Speaking to The Sun, James said: “I’ve basically become a monk – I make cheese and now I’ve started making beer. It’s the monk’s life.”

As he continued, there were still no signs of rockstar behaviour from the star – and he went on to talk about about 'fucking amazing' the chips he bought at a Little Chef restaurant.

“I bought a complicated contraption for cooking chips. I thought that was the way forward until I found out Little Chef were using frozen ones. It made me think: ‘Why have I been fucking about for five years trying to make the perfect chip at home when you can just do it the Little Chef way?'”
