Andre 3000 To Star In Jimi Hendrix Film - If Estate Don't Pull The Plug

Outkast star Andre 3000 has apparently been drafted in to play Jimi Hendrix in a new biopic about the legendary guitarist.

ImageThe new film, set to titled 'All is By Your Side', will see Andre acting as Hendrix as the cameras follow him through his time recording his incredible debut album 'Are You Experienced', and will be directed by John Ridley.

It won't be Andre's first venture into films, either – he's featured in a couple of feature lengths in his time, including 'Scary Movie 4', 'Four Brothers' and 'Be Cool'. He'll be filming for the next six weeks and could potentially even come out before the end of the year.

Interestingly, though, the film hasn't been approved by Hendrix's estate, and they're apparently against it – meaning the film may never even make it to our screens. They've released this statement:

“Various media outlets have recently published accounts that indicate a feature-length Jimi Hendrix biographical film is nearing production. Experience Hendrix, LLC, the family-owned company entrusted with safeguarding the legacy of Jimi Hendrix and administrator of the Jimi Hendrix music and publishing catalogue has made it known many times in the past that no such film, were it to include original music or copyrights created by Jimi Hendrix, can be undertaken without its full participation.”

It continues: “Experience Hendrix CEO Janie Hendrix, sister of Jimi Hendrix, and the EH board have not ruled out a 'biopic' in the future though producing partners would, out of necessity, have to involve the company from the inception of any such film project if it is to include original Jimi Hendrix music or compositions.”
