Indonesian Authorities Deny Lady Gaga Permit For Jakarta Show

Eccentric pop superstar Lady Gaga has reportedly been forced to cancel her sold-out Indonesia show this week after intense protests from Islamic extremists – who believe that the star will 'corrupt' their youth.

The June 3rd Jakarta show was set to be a huge one with tickets selling out incredibly quickly, but, according to Billboard, it will no longer go ahead after lawmakers in the country deemed her a threat to the country's 'moral fibre'. Interestingly, it wasn't even Gaga's decision to cut the show – the police had actually taken away her permit to perform.

The idea of stopping Gaga perform was originally put forward by influential Islamic extremists, who are becoming more and more of a prominent force in the country, and was put into practice by police today – meaning thousands of Gaga fans will not be seeing their favourite popstar live any time soon.

One upset fan, Mariska Renata, is upset that the police have complied with the extremist figures, and believes the move has given them more power.

“I'm very disappointed. We are mature enough to be able to separate our own moral values from arts and culture.” She went on to describe the extremists as 'troublemakers'. It's unknown whether fans will be given a refund following the cancellation.

Whilst she may not be performing in Indonesia in the near future, she'll be bringing her Born This Way Ball world tour to the UK this September.
