Keane have unveiled the video for their brand new single 'Sovereign Light Cafe', which is released on July 23rd on Island Records. This is the latest single to be taken from the band's new album 'Strangeland' which recently spent 2 weeks at the top of the UK album chart. The video was filmed in Bexhill and involves various groups of local people, creating a portrait of the seaside town.
'Sovereign Light Café' was the first song that Tim wrote for 'Strangeland'. The title name checks the seafront café in Bexhill where, as teenagers cycling from nearby Battle, he and Keane drummer Richard Hughes would “spend hours sunbathing underneath cloudy skies.” Once a “Springsteeny-sounding” demo was laid down on the tour bus, the group listened back to what they had. The song’s sentiments – perhaps something to do with trying to make sense of the present by taking a look at your past –seemed to shine a light on what would follow. “It felt very emotional,” recalls Tim. “From the heart."
Keane are currently in the middle of a sold out UK tour and will play 2 dates at Brixton's O2 Academy, on Friday 8th and Saturday 9th of June, before heading out to North America and Europe.
