Flame-haired singer-songwriter Ed Sheeran has become the latest British star to invade the American charts, with his super-selling debut '+' topping both the US and Canadian Album charts.
Whilst the original release of '+' is still sitting pretty at #25 in the US iTunes albums charts, but it's deluxe version is in pole position in North America. What makes the achievement even more of a feat is the fact that Sheeran's '+' and it's deluxe edition are in the #12 and #24 spots respectively, meaning he's currently charting higher in the US and Canada than he is back home!
Sheeran is understandably happy with news, and wrote via his official Twitter page: “Oh my word!! My album is -#1 on USA iTunes!,!,!! so happy right now.”
The Top 10 is looking pretty good for Brits too, with Adele's world-beating '21' still sitting in the #4 spot, and One Direction's 'Up All Night' holding the #10 position. In the Singles chart, Ellie Goulding is flying the British flag with her track 'Lights', which is at #12, whilst 1D's 'What Makes You Beautiful' is still charting at #9.
