Australian indie quartet Rapids have unveiled the brand new music video to their track ‘Cut Fast’ - you can check it out below.
Joining the long-list of great bands to come out of Australia, this Sydney quartet of Angus McClaren (drums) Will Shepherd (guitar, bass) Remy Hii (bass, guitar) and Jamie Timony (vocals) are purveyors of a type of indie that positively throbs with innovation and psychedelica.
In a time populated with bands taking the ‘safe’ route, Rapids are not afraid to break free from the status quo. Blessed with the exuberance of youth and a rebellious streak powered by the desire to break boundaries, Rapids have attracted great attention in their home country, working with the producer who brought us the delicious Cloud Control LP, Bliss Release (Luke Judson) on their upcoming debut EP, Holland Air.
‘Cut Fast’ is a perfect example of just why. A track that grabs you by the throat from the opening rumbles and demands your undivided attention, ‘Cut Fast’ is a tour-de-force driven by the distinctive vocals of frontman Jamie Timony. The unique drumming of Angus McClaren forms the backbone of a song that is part chaos, part mesmerising. The video (starring Ryan Corr and Jessica Tovey) can be seen below.
Signed to progressive indie label Ratbag Music (New Navy), you could be forgiven for referring to this band of brothers as a ‘buzz’ band. However, scratch below the surface and you may just discover that Rapids are a timely breath of fresh air into a scene in danger of going a bit stagnant.
