The Scissor Sisters River Of Music London 2012 Festival Performance To Be Streamed Live On The Space

As part of the London 2012 Festival, Scissor Sisters will headline the Americas stage at BT River of Music, a weekend celebration with free concerts along the banks of the river Thames with musical talent from Olympic and Paralympic countries around the world, and their entire performance will be streamed live and free for the world to enjoy from the Tower of London at 8.00pm (GMT) on July 21st from on digital arts channel The Space. For those who aren’t able to catch the Scissor Sisters on July 21st the entire performance, together with films of much of the rest of the weekend’s concerts, will be available on demand for free on The Space.

The Scissor Sisters are chart-topping multimillion-sellers whose 2004 self-titled debut remains among the bestselling albums of the century.

Since its launch in May, digital arts channel The Space has become the online destination for music fans everywhere offering a selection of free and on-demand music events, whenever you want it and wherever you happen to be, featuring unmissable live events, rare archive material and interactive collections, with new content added every week.

In the run up to the Scissor Sisters live stream, visitors to The Space can enjoy exclusive short films with behind-the-scenes footage of artists as they prepare and rehearse for BT River of Music including electro-pop band, Noisettes. From the 23rd of July onwards The Space will feature all the performance highlights from across the festival weekend, on demand.

The Space is currently showcasing a selection of music content including the John Peel archive - each week 100 albums from one of the most important archives in modern music history are being unveiled. The legendary DJ's home studio has been recreated online, offering the public the chance to browse through his archive of vinyl LPs and view his personal notes and never before seen home footage as well as archive performances from some of his favourite bands.

Additional music content on The Space includes A Room for London, a riverboat-inspired one-bedroom installation perched atop The Queen Elizabeth Hall during 2012.

Also on The Space is Sonic Journeys, a collection of aural landscapes that connect with the physical world. Sonic Journeys commissions musicians to compose new works inspired by specific stretches of landscape experienced on rural and urban journeys. The music is free to download, allowing audiences to listen as they take the same journey.

Nottingham-born jazz trombonist John Aram’s ‘Saturday Night and Sunday Morning’ also features on The Space. The suite was created over a four year period as a loose adaptation of Alan Sillitoe’s novel, following the twists and turns of the plot. This first track is called Overture: In the factory/Arthur and Brenda, played by the John Aram Quintet with special guest Kenny Wheeler.

A recent addition to The Space is CountryBoy’s Struggle – a one-man show about a rapper who comes to London, transformed into a series of storytelling music videos.
