26 American Teenagers Taken To Hospital After Wiz Khalifa Pre-Drinks

Superstar rapper Wiz Khalifa may have been planning a night of hip-hop beats and musical performances when he arranged his ‘Under the Influence of Music’ show at Jones Beach last week, but it ended with his fans under the influence of something a little more intoxicating - after 26 teenagers had to be treated at hospital with alcohol poisoning.

The young American fans, aged between 14-18, really couldn’t handle their drink - which they’d been sipping in the venue car park before the gig - and embarrassingly had to be taken away to the nearby Nassau University Medical Centre for treatment, missing Khalifa’s show.

The children didn’t suffer any serious problems (aside from a bad head the following day) and were sent home to their parents. While no alcohol was being served at the venue, police claim that the drinking took place outside - with police sergeant Manny Miller commenter: “There's so much drinking going on…it's out of control.”

What do you think of the incidents? Does it say good things about the UK’s drinking age restrictions? Are Americans just lightweight drinkers? Let us know in the comments section below.
