Elton John: 'Madonna's Career Is Dead'

The hilariously catty war of words between Sir Elton John and Madonna took another amusing turn on Sunday night when the outspoken British singer declared “Madonna's such a nightmare. Her career is over. Her tour has been a disaster and it couldn't happen to a bigger c**t”.

ImageIn an interview with Australian journalist Molly Meldrum Elton denounced Madge for making cruel comments about his son Zachary's godmother; one Lady Gaga. Earlier this year the 'Queen of pop' belittled her musical heir's song 'Born This Way' with a backhanded observation, describing it as “an interesting redo” of her own 1989 hit 'Express Yourself'. Sir Elton defended his close friend, stating that “Madonna's been so horrible to Gaga”, before launching a stinging, and some might say nail-on-the-head analysis of her recent musical output “If Madonna had any common sense she would have made a record like 'Ray Of Light' and stayed away from the dance stuff and just been a great pop singer and make great pop records, which she does brilliantly," Furthermore, he went on to provide a scathing analysis of the singer's appearance by claiming “she looks like a fucking fairground stripper”. On a positive note for Madonna he didn't make any mention of her acting career. It would seem some targets are too easy.

The bitter sniping between the pair of high maintenance pop divas has been going on for a number of years. Back in February Elton made a jibe at Madonna before her half time performance at this year's Super Bowl, telling the singer to “make sure you lip-sync good.” John's husband David Furnish has also bared his claws, taking a vitriolic shot at the former Mrs Ritchie after her song 'Masterpiece' beat Elton's to win the Golden Globe for Best Song earlier this year. Furnish ranted that “Madonna winning Best Original Song truly shows how these awards have nothing to do with merit. Her acceptance speech was embarrassing in its narcissism”.

Where this will go next is anyone's guess, but the handbags are well and truly out and the two superstars show no signs of patching up their differences. Let's just hope for Elton's sake the two don't come face to face in case the name calling turns into a full on cat fight, because we're fairly sure hair pulling wouldn't go down well with the piano playing knight of the realm.
