World-famous punk-rockers Green Day have reportedly earned up to $4,000 after selling brand track ‘Let Yourself Go’ and their forthcoming album trilogy ‘¡Uno! ¡Dos! ¡Tré!’ using brand new direct-to-consumer service Chirpify via twitter.
The new service allows users to connect their Twitter accounts with online payment service PayPal, meaning they can purchase things using just a tweet. Green Day have become Chirpify’s first major-label link-up, and have used the service to offer their fans a unique deal in which they can pay just $29.99 for each of their brand new albums, as well as new track ‘Let Yourself Go’.
The deal came as the band, fronted by Billie Joe Armstrong, performed the single at the MTV VMA’s last week, tweeting:
Reports indicate that around 130 fans have taken advantage of the deal, leaving them with a figure close to $4,000 gross revenue thanks to the deal.
