Australian indie-rock outfit The Temper Trap have announced that London-based singer-songwriter Eugene McGuinness will be joining them at their gig in London’s Hammersmith Apollo on October 4th - their final UK gig of 2012.
McGuinness’s second full length album ‘The Invitation to the Voyage’, released in August, is an unabashedly bombastic, brave, and, above all, thoroughly contemporary update on a distinctly English strand of lyrical, gently fantastical pop songwriting that locates and celebrates the beautiful and the bizarre in modern life, as demonstrated by latest single ‘Harlequinade’ (which you can check out below).
The Temper Trap’s Hammersmith Apollo show follows four months of sold out shows across the globe, and is the final show of their major European September/October tour. The band recently completed sell-out tours of the US, UK and Australia in March, April and May of this year, including two sold out shows at London’s Koko. Currently completing a run of European summer festivals, which have included UK appearances at T in the Park, Truck Festival as and a show at Somerset House that sold out in less than 48 hours, they have also been confirmed as support to Coldplay on their stadium tour of Australia this autumn.
The Temper Trap’s self-titled second album was released in May via Infectious Music and is the follow up to 2009’s debut LP ‘Conditions’, which featured the singles ‘Science of Fear’, ‘Fader,’ ‘Love Lost’, and ‘Sweet Disposition’. Their epic new single Trembling Hands from the new album is out now.
