Locksem Lines Up 'Architects' EP Release

Cardiff-based producer Locksem will release his second EP ‘Architects’ on December 3rd, with his latest helping of drum and bass goodness set to launch him further into the public eye.

ImageThe 21 year-old turned heads earlier this year with his four-track EP ’My Turn’, which came from seminal Bristol label Lockdown Recordings. Now, the Lockdown/Locksem partnership returns with a monstrous collection of four more hard-hitting, physically hurting tunes - that have received support from some of the biggest DJs and producers in the game.

‘Architects’, the EP’s title track, is a savage roller that has been a favourite of mine - and many others - since I first laid ears on it. If you think you’ve heard punchy, driving percussion, check this track out - each kick and snare feels like it’s going to rip through your speaker and smack you in the face. Coupled with a clever bassline and loads of lovely, tech-y noises, it’s no-wonder this track has received brilliant reviews from big drum and bass names like Mob Tactics - who described it as a ‘killer, killer track’ - and super-talented DJ Stanza.

With a lot of EPs, you can find that other than the title or lead track, there’s not much really going on, and that the remainder of the tracks are simply filler material. For Locksem, this isn’t the case - the three other tunes are awesome in their own way, whilst still grasping the industrial, neuro techy-ness of the EP itself.

‘My Love and I’, a moody track with a haunting vocal sample, is another helping of running dnb, and is the firm favourite of Budapest pioneer Chris SU - while ‘Not As We Know It’ and ‘Sparse Rhythm’ offer beats on the other side of the drum and bass spectrum. Their super-experimental, half-time structure will have you nodding your head from the go, and when someone as talented as June Miller describes them as ‘very good stuff’, you know you’re onto a winner.

Out on December 3rd, the EP is re-introduction to a producer you’re more than likely to be hearing more of - online, in clubs, and on your PC - in the coming year. Check out the tracks below - and click here to purchase.
