Reg Presley, frontman for The Troggs, has sadly passed away following a battle with cancer.
The singer-songwriter and musician was age 71 when he passed last night, having suffered from lung cancer and a ‘succession of recent strokes’. The news was broken by his close friend Keith Altham, who wrote via Facebook:
“My dear old pal Reg Presley of The Troggs died today at 1:00 surrounded by family and friends at his home in Andover following a succession of recent strokes and a losing battle with cancer. He was one very real person in a sometimes very unreal world. Our thoughts are with his wife Brenda and the the family and those legion of fans who loved his music and his band. I will miss him hugely.”
Presley had been plagued with illnesses since December 2011, when he was admitted to hospital having suffered from a stroke. As well as being diagnosed with having pneumonia, he was later told he had lung cancer, news which forced him to retire from the music industry after over 50 successful years. We at Stereoboard send our condolences to Presley’s family and friends.
His band The Troggs were probably most famous for their track ‘Wild Thing’ - you can check it out below.
