American Country Star Mindy McCready Commits Suicide Age 37

American country star Mindy McCready reportedly killed herself last night, in the same spot in which former boyfriend David Wilson - a record producer that fathered her youngest child - committed suicide one month ago.

Age 37, McCready was found dead on her porch by Sheriffs who were called to the scene after neighbours reported hearing gunshots from her home. The death is currently being treated as a suicide, with Arkansas sheriff Marty Moss stating that McCready died because of an ‘apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound’.

Though it is being treated a suicide, the Cleburne County Sheriff’s Office has claimed that her body will be taken for an autopsy at the Arkansas State crime lab, adding that the ‘the matter will be fully investigated’. McCready leaves behind two young children - six year-old Zander and ten month-old Zayne - who weren’t present at the time of her death.

The singer - who’s sold over 3million records, including double-platinum debut album ‘Ten Thousand Angels - has attempted to commit suicide multiple times before: once in July 2008, overdosing on drugs and alcohol after splitting from William McKnight, once in September 2008 after getting back with him, and once in December 2008 (when she was found with injuries to her wrists). She was also hospitalised in 2010 after a suspected Darvocet overdose suicide attempt.

The suicide most likely has something to do with the death of partner David Wilson - who she described as her ‘soulmate’ and ‘life partner’. McCready said of his suicide back in January: “[I’ve] never gone through anything this painful. He didn't just touch my heart, he touched my soul.”

Messages in response to her death have started flooding in, with country icon Carrie Underwood wrote via Twitter:

We at Stereoboard send our condolences to her friends, family, and her two children. RIP
