Great Cynics Debut 'Back To Hackney' Video - Watch Now

London indie-punk trio, Great Cynics, have unveiled the first music video for their forthcoming new album, 'Like I Belong', in the form of 'Back To Hackney'.

Originally the solo project of frontman Giles Bidder, the line-up was completed by Bob Barrett on drums and Iona Cairns on bass. Produced by Peter Miles (The King Blues, We Are The Ocean), their debut album ‘Don’t Need Much’ was released on London punk rock label Household Name Records in June 2011.

The band have since toured consistently. Notable slots include a UK tour with We Are The Ocean and stints with Crazy Arm and Apologies, I Have None. The band have also played two years running at The Fest in Gainesville, Florida (curated by No Idea Records; headlined by Hot Water Music, Frank Turner, Propagandhi). Recording a Maida Vale session for the BBC Radio 1 Punk Show months after being a band, they soon followed up with the EP ‘In The Valley’ in February 2012, consisting of three reworked songs from Giles’ solo back catalogue.

In July 2012 the band returned to Peter Miles’ studio in Devon to record their second full-length album, ‘Like I Belong’.

‘Like I Belong’ shows just how much the band has grown since their debut. You can hear influences from Third Eye Blind, The Lemonheads and Against Me!, while the record – recorded predominantly live - has a fresh and original home-grown sound. ‘Like I Belong’ is the band’s first album to heavily feature bass player Iona Cairns, whose increased additional vocals and songwriting add a new depth to the band’s recorded material. The album is set to drop in the spring, but you can hear the first single ‘In My Head’ – premièred on the Radio 1 Punk Show – here.

'Like I Belong' will be released on April 8th on Bomber Music/Lemon Days Records (CD, LP, digital) in the UK and Europe.

Great Cynics will be supporting Broadway Calls across Europe (March 8th to 22nd) and the UK (March 23rd to 29th).
