Wilko Johnson Cancels Two Farewell Gigs Due To Health

Dr Feelgood legend Wilko Johnson has been forced to cancel his last two remaining farewell gigs, due to being too physically unwell.

The iconic guitarist was recently diagnosed with terminal pancreatic cancer at the beginning of the year, but rather than retire from music, Johnson decided he’d line-up a farewell tour of the UK, vowing to play until the very end.

After performing a series of well-attended and emotional shows, the star has sadly been forced to cancel two shows in Canvey’s Oysterfleet, which were set to take place last night and tonight. Wilko had actually just performed alongside Madness on Friday night for an outdoor in honour of the closure of BBC Television Centre in London.

Commenting on the cancellations, his manager Bob Hoy explained: “He's not in bad spirits but he feels too physically unwell to perform. If he could get up on stage and perform he would love to do it but sadly he can't.”

It’s unknown whether Wilko will be able to rearrange the dates, but we hope he’s able to return to better health soon so he can get back to doing what he loves best - performing. If you have any comments, leave them in the box below.
