Liverpool Woman Arrested After Selling 40 Fraudulent Tickets To One Direction Fans

A woman in Liverpool has been arrested on suspicion of fraud, after 40 One Direction fans were sold fake tickets for the group’s gig in the Echo Arena earlier this month.
The 35 year-old is said to be behind HCT (Halton Community Trips), a company that offers ‘affordable trips’ for families and groups during the school holidays, and has now been released on bail until June.
The company sold 40 tickets - which were supposed to secure fans a place on a coach to the venue, as well as entry to the show - to parents, children, and fans, only for them to find that their ‘seats’ had been taken by buyers who had received real tickets. The Echo Arena has since confirmed that it had not sold 40 tickets to HCT.
The BBC reports that Cheshire Police have said: “Cheshire Police have been made aware of allegations of fraud regarding the selling of tickets for short breaks and concerts via social networking and online auction sites, particularly in the Runcorn area. Police are currently investigating the allegations and are speaking with the victims concerned who have come forward.”
The Echo Arena have also commented on the news, saying: “Echo Arena Liverpool is extremely concerned to learn that a number of individuals who believed they had acquired tickets via HCT for the One Direction show were left to discover on the evening of the event that this was not the case. As a result of this incident, Echo Arena Liverpool has suspended the future sale of tickets to HCT for all events.”
