Don Broco are taking Alkaline Trio's place as the Thursday headliner of this week's 2000trees festival.
The announcement comes after Alkaline Trio cancelled their entire UK tour just hours before they were due to take the stage in Birmingham last Friday (July 3) due to “medical issues” with vocalist-guitarist Matt Skiba. At the time, the Chicago punk-rock trio said in a statement:
"We are immensely sorry but we must cancel our dates in England, including tonight's show in Birmingham, due to medical issues Matt has been suffering from that have worsened. He's gonna be okay but needs to be treated stateside as soon as possible. We will be back healthier and stronger!"
Soon after, 2000trees confirmed Don Broco will return to headline the festival for a second time, after first topping the bill in 2024. Announcing the news with a post on social media, organisers wrote:
"It's been a whirlwind of a day but we're buzzing to have these guys return to the Main Stage next week. This band are total heroes for stepping in at the 11th hour to help us out (putting the DON in DON BROCO), and we know they're gonna belt it into the stratosphere...... two years ago they put on one of the biggest headline sets Upcote has ever seen, and now they're gonna one up it. This will be one helluva show.
"Now please excuse us while we go and have a lay down and a stiff drink - we found out about Alkaline Trio literally a few hours ago, and we pulled out all the stops to sort out your Thursday headliner as soon as possible, from the middle of a field no less. Thanks for bearing with + let's get the party started!!"
The award-winning festival will return to Upcote Farm this week, with other previously announced headliners Funeral For A Friend and Neck Deep, who will top the bill on Friday and Saturday, respectively.
