Erykah Badu and The Alchemist have teamed up for a joint album.
The collaborative project is set for release on August 28 and despite the prolific producer, aka Alan Maman, revealing the title 'Abi & Alan' last year, the album is currently listed on digital streaming platforms as 'Sorry, we don’t have an album title yet'.
Recorded in Dallas and Los Angeles over 18 months, the project began taking shape more than three years ago when soul icon Badu told her longtime creative partner, Cold Cris, that she wanted to rap over The Alchemist's beat for Mobb Deep's The Realest.
The album's announcement comes alongside the release of a new six-and-a-half-minute single, Witch Doctor, a laid-back, soulful offering that follows the pair's 2025 single, Next To You, though that track won't appear on the album, according to the current listing on Apple Music.
Badu will be joined by the Alchemist for a North American tour next month, featuring De La Soul and Smino on select dates. She will also bring her IMEHO: An Intimate Experience show to the new Blue Note London venue in November. Tickets are on sale.
Badu's latest album is 2010's 'New Amerykah Pt.2: Return Of The Ankh', which was followed by the 'But You Caint Use My Phone' mixtape in 2015. She also recently featured on Steve Lacy's track pure colour from his recent album 'Oh yeah?'.
The Alchemist collaborated with rapper-producer Oh No to release 'Better Than McDonalds', their fifth studio album under the moniker Gangrene, last month.
