Crikey - it seems just yesterday we were doing our monthly round up at the end of February, and now it's Christmas already. Oh, wait - that's just the British weather throwing a rather annoying curveball. Luckily March hasn't been all bad, especially for our ears (even more so if you were smart enough to wear a snug hat), as there's been plenty of tracks to revel in, from some metal goodness to Ant and Dec leaping back to their good ol' PJ & Duncan days.
Joe Bonamassa - 'Driving Towards The Daylight (Acoustic)'

The live acoustic version of this Bonamassa bijou is given a blue grass makeover as a delicate banjo and mournful fiddle embellish Joe's reflective journey from heartbreak to salvation. Stripped of the Les Paul and Marshall, he once again proves himself a true artist who can excel at any style he chooses, with the naked power of his emotive vocal particularly impressive.
Dan Bettridge - 'Untitled'

Taken from his debut EP 'Hunters Heart' 19 year-old South Walian Bettridge is top of the list of potential break out singer songwriters for this year. 'Untitled' has already been picked up by BBC radio and is the perfect introduction to his acoustic storytelling.
PJ & Duncan - 'Let's Get Ready to Rumble'

My music excitement for March is the re-entry into the charts of PJ & Duncan’s ‘Let’s Get Ready To Rumble’. Their performance on Saturday Night Takeaway was so “old skool” and nostalgic that it was pure brilliance and took me right back to my childhood. The oldies really are the best!
The Defiled - 'Sleeper'

Never ones to shy away from penning an absolute anthem, The Defiled have only gone and done it again. Wearing their industrial influences proudly on their sleeves more so than ever before, 'Sleeper' bludgeons the ears with truly cacophonous vigour. It's like Slayer, Ministry and Bullet For My Valentine all went out on the lash together and decided to record a track whilst up to their eyeballs in Jack Daniels. And don't even get me started on that chorus. Just buy it, for Christ's sake.
Ensemble Pearl - 'Painting on a Corpse'

Of course to choose but one track from Ensemble Pearl's debut opus is to entirely miss the point, but such is the astonishing quality of their debut LP that to ignore it would be no more helpful. This supergroup are producing some of the finest drone imaginable; utterly essential. Listen Here.
Justin Timberlake - 'Mirrors'

Track of the month has to be Mirrors by Justin Timberlake. "Timberlake is back with an extensive LP full of top tier R&B, and Mirrors is a standout. Sure, it possibly overstays its welcome, but it still has everything you could ask for from him. So we're treated to the introspective lyrics, vocal charm, delicious delivery, huge hook, epic production, hand-claps and everything else we expect and love from JT. When it comes to producing chart-toppers but still maintaining a degree of replayability, Justin and his entourage (shout out to Timbaland again) are the best in the business.
Heavens Basement - 'I Am Electric'

Recently added to the Radio One playlist, this exciting guitar laden track is the third single to be released from the album "Filthy Empire". Already backing extreme sports and video games, the song is a wake up call that defies the system with venonmous attitude and rocks with punchy riffs and powerfully melodic vocals. If this one doesn't motivate you on a Monday morning, nothing will.
Mindless Self Indulgence - 'Hey Tomorrow Fuck You And Your Friend Yesterday'

I'd like to say I had a more cultured choice, or a track that feels huge and groundbreaking. But no. I pledged (more than I care to admit) towards the new Mindless Self Indulgence album via Kickstarter and this month saw it finally drop - and this excites me beyond all reason. Fun, polished production, catchy as hell, a 50 Shades of Grey reference - what more do you really need in a song? Listen Here.
Now let's see what April holds. Hopefully better weather, for one. The perks of this time of year should be blaring music on sunny drives, for sure.
