American singer-songwriter Lana Del Rey has unveiled her brand new track ‘Young & Beautiful’, which is taken from the brand new ‘Great Gatsby’ soundtrack album.
The new film adaptation of F. Scott Fitzgerald’s 1925 classic novel of the same name features a soundtrack executively-produced by hip-hop megastar Jay-Z. The album - and film’s - ‘buzz single’ has been chosen as ‘Young & Beautiful’, which Del Rey wrote alongside the film’s director Baz Luhrmann.
Del Rey has commented on the track, and said:
“It was an honour to work with Baz Luhrmann on his amazing adaptation of one of the most extraordinary books ever written.”
The soundtrack features a load of music from some of today’s biggest stars - Emeli Sande contributed a track alongside Bryan Ferry and the Bryan Ferry Orchestra (who also submitted a song of their own), while Florence and the Machine, Beyonce, Gotye, Jack White, and Nero all chipped in too. Jay-Z himself also features on the soundtrack - his tune ‘$100 Bill’ is the album’s first track.
The album itself hits cinema screens on May 10th - the soundtrack will be available in the UK from May 6th onwards. You can check out Del Rey’s track now - simply check below. You’ll also find the full soundtrack tracklisting.
