Simple Minds and Jack Johnson are among the big names confirmed for the line-up of this summer's BBC Radio 2 Live in Hyde Park on Sunday 8 September. Other acts announced include Josh Groban, James Blunt, Manic Street Preachers, Texas, Jamie Cullum and Treacherous Orchestra.
Last year saw nearly 30,000 revellers flock to Hyde Park to see top acts including Tom Jones, Jessie J, Status Quo, Paloma Faith and Emeli Sande. This year music lovers can look forward to another line-up of big names and big talent.
Every morning this week, at 8:15am, Zoe Ball, who is currently standing in for Chris Evans on the Breakfast Show, has revealed a new artist for the line-up.
Jeff Smith, Head of Music, Radio 2 and 6 Music, says: “It’s great to have Radio 2 back live in Hyde Park, in the heart of the capital joined by world famous artists who reflect the breadth and diversity of the network’s output. This year the focus is on getting friends and families together for a summer’s day out full of music and good times.”
Radio 2 has announced that in 2013, for the first time, there will be two stages at their Hyde Park event. In addition to the main stage there will be a BBC Introducing Stage where the station will host up-and-coming talent. More details about the acts to appear on this stage will be announced nearer the time.
