Aerosmith Stars Steven Tyler And Joe Perry Inducted Into Songwriters' Hall Of Fame

Aerosmith stars Steven Tyler and Joe Perry were among names inducted into the Songwriters' Hall of Fame on Thursday night.
The event took place in New York, and saw a handful of the world’s best songwriters inducted into the prestigious Hall of Fame, a list that includes the likes of Johnny Cash, Eric Clapton, Barry Manilow, Sir Paul McCartney, and dozens of others. Speaking of their win, the Tyler said:
“I love that Joe and I are getting inducted tonight because we put our nose to the grindstone. We can't get harmony if everybody is singing the same note.”
Perry added:
“It means that people are listening to what we're doing. Like Steven said, we're always under the hood working, or we're on the road, whatever. That's what the band is, it's work, and we're doing it.”
Also inducted were American pop rock songwriter and musician Holly Knight, Foreigner’s Lou Gramm and Mick Jones, country-rock singer-songwriter J.D Souther, and composer and songwriter Tony Hatch - who famously penned the theme from Neighbours.
Meanwhile, Sir Elton John and his collaborator Bernie Taupin were handed the Johnny Mercer award - an accolade for those already inducted into the Hall of Fame. Speaking of the win, John commented:
“When you get an Ivor Novello award or an American songwriter's award, it means so much more than a Grammy because this is where the whole process starts.”
