Arctic Monkeys Line Up 'Fun' And 'Different' Setlist for Glastonbury Headline Slot

Thursday, 20 June 2013 Written by Elliott Batte

Matt Helders - drummer of indie-rock titans Arctic Monkeys - has revealed that the band are planning to ‘have a bit of fun’ when they headline the Friday night of this summer’s Glastonbury Festival.

The band last headlined Glasto back in 2007, and are keen to switch things up from their first time - promising to ‘mould a different kind of setlist’. The Sheffield-based four-piece are ‘quietly confident’ ahead of their slot.

Speaking to Zane Lowe on his BBC Radio 1 show, Helders revealed:

“I'm prepared for what it entails in way, but I think in terms of preparation we can mould a different kind of setlist for it and have a bit more fun with it. So far I'm probably quietly confident, but I know as soon as I'm walking up the steps I'll be in a different place completely, I'll just be talking nonsense, walking around a lot.”

One track in their setlist may be brand new single ‘Do I Wanna Know?’ (check out its music video below), which was released on Wednesday and is said to feature on the band’s forthcoming fifth studio album. Speaking of the track, Helders commented:

“It was one of the first ones that we did for the record. When it came down to playing it, it was still quite scary, we didn't practise it that much, we didn't know it well! The thing I remember from actually recording it in the studio, [was] sitting there and without telling [frontman Alex Turner] how good I think he is, just like y’know, keeping it to myself, but enjoying it.”
