Portishead And The Weeknd In Sampling Twitter Row

The Weeknd And Geoff Barrow of Portishead are currently waging a Twitter war over a sample used in the The Weeknd's latest single Belong To The World. 

Just moments after The Weeknd unveiled the video for Belong to the World, Geoff Barrow revealed that the sample of Portishead track Machine Gun was not permitted. Geoff wrote via Twitter: "I think it's a load of bollox. When someone asks to sample you and you refuse they should have the respect as a fellow artist to not use it." 

Barrow added: "We usually give sample clearance to tunes we like. its got fuk all to do with money! As most of them are hiphop artist that are skint."

Barrow has since ended his rant via Twitter, after posting:

You can check out the near 8-minute, dark and mysterious video for The Weeknd's Belong to the World, below. The track is the latest single to be lifted from the 'Kiss Land' album.
