Lily & Madeleine Announce Self-Titled Debut Album On Asthmatic Kitty

Wednesday, 14 August 2013 Written by Jon Stickler

The self-titled debut full-length album from acclaimed sisters Lily & Madeleine will be released October 28 on Asthmatic Kitty Records. In advance of the record, see below for a sneak peek at the album's second track, Devil We Know.

In January 2013, Lily and Madeleine’s debut EP, 'The Weight Of The Globe', showcased a nous for melody that elevated them above most of the competition. Sufjan Stevens sanctioned the EP’s release on his label imprint Asthmatic Kitty, and now comes the debut album, 'Lily And Madeleine'

'Lily & Madeleine' album tracklisting:

1. Sounds Like Somewhere
2. Devil We Know
3. Nothing But Time
4. Spirited Away
5. Disappearing Heart
6. And Tonight
7. I’ve Got Freedom
8. Come to Me
9. Lost Upon The Sea
10. Goodbye to Anyone
11. Paradise
12. You Got Out

The album was recorded in just two weeks at the Bloomington studio Farm Fresh, produced by Paul Mahern and was written by the sisters and longtime collaborator Kenny Childers (Gentleman Caller).

Lily And Madeleine also rings in some changes. “Sad isn’t bad, but if we only sang about sad stuff, it would be boring,” Madeleine said. “We wanted something different, so the album’s more upbeat, in mood and lyrics. We’re talking less about uncertainty and more about the adventure and the possibilities of the future.”

Born and raised in Indianapolis, the sisters originally gained notice when the acoustic video for their song In the Middle was featured on the homepage at Reddit. To date, the video has been viewed over 280,000 times. A complete series of acoustic videos can be viewed at the duo’s YouTube page.

Ahead of the release, Lily & Madeleine will make their live UK debut with a show at The Social in London on October 8.
