Ofcom Claim Illegal Music Downloads Down A Third In UK

Friday, 13 September 2013 Written by Elliott Batte

Ofcom - the independent regulator and competition authority for the UK communications industries - has revealed that illegal downloads are down by a third.

The results of a new survey and investigation were published on September 10 and show that in the last 12 months the number of illegal downloads has decreased from 301million to 199million.

Unfortunately, the results still indicate that in the UK almost 25% of all downloads are illegal. But, with the music industry apparently ‘on the road to recovery’, digital sales are up (0.3%).

What do you think of the results? A positive sign for artists and the music industry, or do we need to improve even further before we can settle? Leave us a comment in the box below!
