Oasis to Reunite For 'Definitely Maybe' Anniversary?

Monday, 16 September 2013 Written by Elliott Batte

Oasis could be set to reunite next year, if the latest bout of speculation is to be believed.

Rumours that the band will reunite have been rife since Oasis split in 2009 after tension between the feuding Gallagher brothers hit breaking point. However, chances of such an event have looked bleak each and every time.

With the 20th anniversary of the band's seminal debut album ‘Definitely Maybe’ coming in 2014, the possibility of a reunion tour next year is looking increasingly likely. The Daily Mail has claimed that a rather wealthy promoter is offering a ridiculous amount of cash.

The newspaper claims Liam and Noel Gallagher are in ‘top-secret’ talks for a two-show comeback to celebrate the anniversary, which would potentially take place in Knebworth in August 2014. A ‘source’ has revealed:

“If the gigs happened, they would perform Definitely Maybe from start to finish.”

It would be quite a spectacle if the shows do go ahead, especially after Noel previously saying that he’d never reform the group, even if ‘all the starving children in the world’ depended on it. But then again, Liam, despite his unwillingness, did once comment that he’d do it ‘if someone’s going to drop  a load of fucking money’.
