Pop-rock outfit Keane are not splitting-up after the release of their Best Of, frontman Tom Chaplin has confirmed in a new interview.
Keane have lined up a new compilation, ‘The Best of Keane’, for November 11 and the guys are hoping to take a well-deserved break from music after its release.
It was widely reported that they’d be taking a hiatus after it hits shelves (check our coverage here), but some newspapers and sites took the news as confirmation that Keane would be parting ways. Now, Chaplin has revealed that the band are simply taking some time out from ‘being Keane’ for a short while.
Speaking to Real Radio Breakfast host Dixie (you can hear the interview below), Chaplin said:
“This is something that has kind of been twisted by one particular article in one particular newspaper over the weekend. All we’ve said is that we’ve been very busy for a few years, and we’d like to take a bit of time out from being Keane.
“Somehow, that’s morphed into ‘Keane are splitting up’. They have [decided to run the story without real clarification], it was The Sun on Sunday. You know what they’re like for embellishing things to sell newspapers, we all do.”
But, before they take their break, they’ve got a Best Of album to release and a gig in Tunbridge Wells to take care of this Friday. If you’re a fan, get yourself to the gig, it could be the last time you see them for a while!
