Republica And Space Team Up For 20th Anniversary Tour

Friday, 01 November 2013 Written by Jon Stickler

Two bands that came to prominence in the mid-1990s, Republica and Space are joining forces for a 20th anniversary tour in Spring 2014.

Republica dominated the charts in the Nineties and exploded back in 2013 with a new EP, UK tour and festival slots. Between 1996 and 1999, Republica sold 3 million albums and clinched Top 5 slots in the UK, America and Europe with platinum sales across the globe, while their hit single Ready to Go soared to Number One in many countries.

2013 was a very busy year for Republica. They released their highly acclaimed new EP ‘Christiana Obey’ and promoted it with a sell out UK tour and selected European festivals appearances including the prestigious Isle Of Wight Festival, Norway’s Midnattsrocken Festival, The Welsh GB Rally and Hanover's Ferryman Festival in Germany. They are returning to the studio early next year and will be releasing a new album in 2014.

Platinum selling Liverpool band Space notched up hit singles such as Female of the Species, Neighbourhood, Avenging Angels, Me and you Versus the World and The Ballad of Tom Jones.

The band formed in 1993 and released four studio albums before disbanding in 2005. The new line-up features original band members Tommy Scott (vocals/guitar) and Franny Griffiths (keyboards), along with Phil Hartley (double bass/bass), Ryan Clarke (vintage keys) and drummer Allan Jones, who will replace Andy Parle who died in 2009.

New album, 'Attack Of The 50ft Kebab', will be released next year.
