Radio 1's Big Weekend Heading To Glasgow

Thursday, 30 January 2014 Written by Huw Baines

BBC Radio 1's Big Weekend will be held on Glasgow Green on May 24 and 25.

Paolo Nutini, who has a new album, 'Caustic Love', on the way, and Rita Ora were the first acts confirmed for the event, which was announced on air by breakfast show host Nick Grimshaw.

Headliners for the weekend will be announced in the coming months, with some 50,000 fans expected to attend the free festival's two days. Further ticket details will arrive in March.

"[I'm] so excited to announce that we are going to be partying in Glasgow this summer," Grimshaw said. "There is a rule that the further north you go, the more fun the gig will be so I'm psyched to be in Scotland this year."
