Red Hot Chili Peppers have been announced as the Saturday headliners for this summer's Isle of Wight Festival.
The US rockers will join fellow headliners Biffy Clyro and Calvin Harris at the top of the bill, which also includes Rudimental, Passenger, the 1975 and the Waterboys.
Speaking about the booking, the band said:
“To headline the Isle of Wight Festival is a once in a lifetime opportunity, following in the footsteps of Jimi Hendrix and the Doors."
The festival's promoter, John Giddings, said:
"Finally – we’ve got them! One of the most exciting rock bands of the modern era come to visit, and judging by the performances I have seen previously, it will be a highlight in the music history of the festival.”
The Isle of Wight Festival performance will be the Chilis' only show in the UK and Ireland this year. The festival gets underway at Newport’s Seaclose Park on June 12 and runs until June 15. For further details, head to isleofwightfestival.com.
