Soul Legend Bobby Womack Dies Aged 70

Saturday, 28 June 2014 Written by Jon Stickler

Bobby Womack has died aged 70, according to reports.

Rolling Stone reported that a representative for Womack's label, XL Recordings, has confirmed the US singer had died, with the cause of death currently unknown.

Womack, known for hits including 1972's Across 110th Street, had been suffering from health problems in recent years. He had been treated for colon cancer and in 2013 told fans he had signs of Alzheimer’s disease. Despite this, Womack appeared at Glastonbury Festival last year and was reportedly working with Snoop Dogg and Stevie Wonder on new material.
