New Kurt Cobain Album Due For Release This Summer

Tuesday, 05 May 2015 Written by Laura Johnson

It has been revealed that an album of previously unheard music by Kurt Cobain will be released this summer.

Brett Morgen, the director of the new documentary, Kurt Cobain: Montage of Heck, about the singer's life, discussed the release in a recent interview with Bedford+Bowery. He said:

"We’re going to be putting out an amazing album this summer that I think will answer that question. (It) will feel like you’re kind of hanging out with Kurt Cobain on a hot summer day in Olympia, Washington as he fiddles about. It’s going to really surprise people. Just to be clear, it’s not a Nirvana album, it’s just Kurt and you’re going to hear him do things you never expected to come out of him.”

In order to make Montage of Heck, Morgen had to sift through over 200 hours of Cobain's personal recordings. It is from these discoveries that the album has been created. Meanwhile, check out the trailer for the recently released film, below.
