Friday, 01 January 2016 Written by Huw Baines

Natalie Cole has died at the age of 65.

The vocalist, daughter of soul star Nat 'King' Cole, died at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles due to "complications from ongoing health issues", the Associated Press reports.

In a statement issued to the news agency, her son, Robert Yancy, and sisters, Timolin and Casey Cole, said:

“Natalie fought a fierce, courageous battle, dying how she lived ... with dignity, strength and honor. Our beloved Mother and sister will be greatly missed and remain UNFORGETTABLE in our hearts forever.”

Cole’s recording career spanned five decades and included a string of hit albums and singles, including the Grammy-winning Unforgettable, on which technology allowed her to duet with her late father.
