Spiral Stairs, aka Scott Kannberg of Pavement and Preston School of Industry, has shared a new track, Exiled Tonight.

The song, which features the National's Matt Berninger, is lifted from Kannberg's new solo LP, 'Doris and The Daggers', which is set to arrive on March 24 via Domino and follow up 2009's 'The Real Feel'.

Discussing the track with Consequence Of Sound, who premiered it, he said:

“I tried to sing like Matt Berninger from The National, but of course I couldn’t, so he came and sang it with me. It was the last song I had to finish on the record. I had terrible lyrics and my engineer Dan said, ‘those suck. come back with something better’. Well, that night, I had a dream about Darius and how he was stuck in the afterlife. I think finishing this song was a sign that we could move on. Deep Water!”

In addition to Berninger, the new record also features Matt Harris on bass and Broken Social Scene’s Justin Peroff on drums, as well as guest appearances from Broken Social Scene's Kevin Drew and singer-songwriter Kelley Stoltz.
