Gord Downie, solo artist and lead singer for the Tragically Hip, has died aged 53.
He was diagnosed with brain cancer in 2015, but did not make the diagnosis public until spring last year, following which the band released a new album, 'Man Machine Poem', in June. Last month, meanwhile, Long Time Running, a documentary about the band, was debuted and Downie announced his latest solo LP, 'Introduce Yerself', would be arriving on October 27.
The Tragically Hip, which is also made up of Paul Langlois, Rob Baker, Gord Sinclair and Johnny Fay, formed in 1984 and have since released 14 albums across four decades and been inducted into the Canadian Music Hall of Fame and onto Canada's Walk of Fame.
