Teleman Share Video For New 'Family of Aliens' Track Song For A Seagull

Thursday, 02 August 2018 Written by Laura Johnson

Teleman have shared a lyric video with a twist for their new track, Song For A Seagull.

It is the third song to be lifted from their forthcoming LP, 'Family of Aliens', which is expected to arrive on September 7, following up last year's 'Fünf' EP. Vocalist and guitarist Tom Sanders said:

“We want to keep evolving and keep discovering. This band is one long journey for us, and we never want to stop developing and finding new ways of creating music. I'm always wanting to better what we've done before. To go deeper, to find something more beautiful, more catchy, more challenging, more interesting … just more.”

Discussing the toe-tapping electro-pop of the new track, he continued:

“[Song For A Seagull] explores the idea of doing everything you can to escape on your own to somewhere far away, somewhere better, but then having no one to experience it with. The person is present but absent, they are miles away. They don’t belong in the world.”

The London-based band will support the record with a UK and Ireland tour, which will run throughout September and October. Check below for dates.

Photo: Jamie-James Medina Having dispensed with the anagrams following the release of the excellent ‘El Pintor’ four years ago, Interpol’s sixth album ‘Marauder’ is the subject of a production shift. Not since 2007’s ‘Our Love To Admire’ have they employed an outside producer, so it’s somewhat surprising to find Dave Fridmann (Mercury Rev, the Flaming Lips) at the helm here.

Album four from Edinburgh's We Were Promised Jetpacks is, in their own words, about going back to basics. Since 2014’s ‘Unravelling’ they’ve changed management and label, both potential pitfalls, while recording was undertaken in the US with producer Jonathan Low. Running alongside these changes on ‘The More I Sleep The Less I Dream’ is the switch back to their original four man configuration and something approximating the style of their early releases.

Alt-J - Reduxer (Album Review)

Remix albums don’t always work. The best examples refresh and reveal elements of the original songs, giving them new life and often broadening their appeal. When they fail, it is often because the tracks lack the integrity and consistency of the source material.
