Album Of Previously Unreleased Miles Davis Material 'Rubberband' Due In September

Thursday, 13 June 2019 Written by Jon Stickler

A previously unreleased Miles Davis studio album will arrive later this year.

Rhino and Warner will give 'Rubberband' a release on September 6, over 30 years since it was originally recorded in the autumn of 1985.

The record was shelved after the trumpet legend moved from his longtime home at Columbia Records to Warner Brothers Records and was eventually confined to the history books in favour of 'Tutu', which followed in December 1986.

Following 2018's Record Store Day release of cut Rubberband Of Life, the album was finished by original producers Randy Hall and Zane Giles, with Davis' nephew Vince Wilburn Jr., who played drums during the album's original recording sessions. There's also new vocals from Ledisi and Donny Hathaway’s daughter Lalah Hathaway.

Check out the album’s artwork above, an original Davis painting, and the tracklist for the record, along with its opening track, Rubberband Of Life, below.

'Rubberband' tracklist:

1. Rubberband Of Life – featuring Ledisi
2. This Is It
3. Paradise
4. So Emotional – featuring Lalah Hathaway
5. Give It Up
6. Maze
7. Carnival Time
8. I Love What We Make Together – featuring Randy Hall
9. See I See
