Franz Ferdinand Drummer Drops Out Of Tour Due To Injury

Monday, 08 July 2019 Written by Jon Stickler

Franz Ferdinand drummer Paul Thomson has been forced to drop out of the band's current tour after crushing his finger.

According to the Scottish quintet, Thomson sustained the injury after an "ugly piece of art" fell from the wall of a hotel in Casablanca, Morroco. The band broke the news with a post on Twitter:

"We're sad to say that Paul's finger was crushed by an ugly piece of art which fell from the wall of a hotel lobby in Casablanca. The bone has splintered into small pieces and he is unable to hold a drumstick without experiencing intense pain.

"Paul will be unable to continue this tour while it heals.

"We are happy to welcome our friend Mike Evans who will stand in for him temporarily."

Franz Ferdinand continue to rack up the miles in support of their latest LP, 2018's 'Always Ascending', with dates confirmed across mainland Europe and the UK this summer, including appearances at Y Not Festival and Boardmasters.
