Tegan and Sara To Bring Hey, I'm Just Like You Tour To UK In November

Friday, 06 September 2019 Written by Laura Johnson

Tegan and Sara will bring their Hey, I'm Just Like You Tour to the UK in November.

They will call at Brighton Theatre Royal, O2 Shepherd's Bush Empire in London and Manchester's Albert Hall on November 16, 17 and 19 respectively. Tickets go on general sale at 9am on September 13.

The sibling duo will relive stories from their forthcoming memoir High School, which drops on September 24, and perform tracks from their new record, 'Hey, I'm Just Like You', which follows on September 27 — they'll also dip into their back catalogue for some classic tracks, fear not.

The latter features songs the twins wrote in high school and recently re-recorded. Check out the title track below. Discussing it in a recent social media post, they said:

"Tegan and I were dirtbags in high school. Stoned on acid, sneaking out, skipping school, lying to our parents. But we were also having the time of our lives. On acid, Tegan seemed like the funniest, coolest person in the universe. All the animosity and fighting melted away, and we were returned to the original joy of our friendship and delivered back into the wonder of our childhood." –Sara

"The drab, flat, concrete sprawl of our adolescence came alive on acid. Teeming with unanswered questions about ourselves, Sara and I experimented as a way to unlock our clenched jaws; jaws wound tight with worry about the future that awaited us after we graduated; a future that felt as bright, and colorful, as the world we saw when we were stoned. After sitting for hours, cross-legged in Sara’s bedroom, we zig-zagged and cross-stitched our voices together, singing our dissimilar confessions to the tape recorder between us to write this song. Arriving at a tale of two sisters who were often at odds with each other, but just as often at ease in the company of the other. As it turns out, we are more alike than not." –Tegan

Tegan and Sara also have previously announced North American shows lined up for the fall. Head below for further details.

What's Your First Line Going To Be? The Futureheads Discuss Their Long-Awaited Return With 'Powers'
Tue 27 Aug 2019
The stars of mid-2000s indie discos are frozen in time in the memories of a lot of people—their music might as well be an advert for sticky floors and test tube shots. And that’s where the Futureheads, who had a couple of songs that were students’ union staples, might still reside in the eyes of some.
Tool - Fear Inoculum (Album Review)
Fri 06 Sep 2019
Photo: Travis Shinn If you’ve waited a long time for something, you might as well spend a long time with it once it finally arrives, right? Tool’s return, after a 13 year absence that amounted to torture for their committed following, is a slow moving, dense work defined by its patient approach. Its steadfast insistence on hitting its marks in its own time, and skipping zero pages in the band’s playbook, will delight diehards.
Ezra Furman - Twelve Nudes (Album Review)
Wed 04 Sep 2019
Seeking to stay true to a punk aesthetic, Ezra Furman and band recorded ‘Twelve Nudes’ at a rapid pace with creative help from booze and cigarettes. And it shows. It doesn’t deliver the production finesse of 2018’s ‘Transangelic Exodus’, but that’s kind of the point.
The Futureheads - Powers (Album Review)
Mon 02 Sep 2019
‘Powers’ is the Futureheads’ sixth studio album and the first since the band went on hiatus following the lukewarm reception to their excellent a capella offering ‘Rant!’ in 2013. It is a return to the thrashy post punk sound that characterised their early success, and while familiar problems arise with several songs, it is a record of intricate and innovative arrangements that should place them firmly back on the European festival circuit next year.
