The rapper, real name Jarad Anthony Higgins, is reported to have suffered a seizure in the early hours of December 8 at Midway airport in Chicago. He was taken to hospital where they officially pronounced his death. The root cause of the seizure is currently unknown.
The Chicago native released his second album, 'Death Race for Love', this March and is extremely well known for his 2018 single Lucid Dreams, a track from his debut LP 'Goodbye & Good Riddance'.
He also racked up a number of impressive collaborations during his career, this year working on tracks with Ellie Goulding, Benny Blanco, BTS and Halsey.
Since the news of his death broke, there has been an outpour of tributes from fellow musicians online, including the Weeknd, Lil Nas, Chance The Rapper, and Drake.
