Thursday, 06 February 2020 Written by Helen Payne

The 1975 have been confirmed to play at the NME Awards.

The indie-pop band will conclude the ceremony at the O2 Academy Brixton on February 12 with a five-song set, after performances from AJ Tracey, Yungblud and Beabadoobee, as well as the first collaborative live show from Slowthai and Mura Masa. Tickets are on sale now.

Nominees for multiple music awards include Slowthai, Billie Eilish, AJ Tracey, FKA Twigs, Lizzo, Charli XCX, Stormzy and Lana Del Rey, while other categories cover Best Film, Best Collaboration, Best Festival Headliner, Best Music Book, Best Podcast and more. Robyn will receive the Songwriter Of The Decade Award, while Courtney Love is due to receive the Icon Award. Find out more about the awards and nominations here.

Katherine Ryan and Julie Adenuga will present this year's ceremony, and the NME team said of the evening:

“After our year off in 2019, we couldn't be more excited about the return of the mighty NME Awards – and we know that our audience, our favourite artists and their associated hangers-on are just as hyped up as we are. Back at O2 Academy Brixton, this year’s event is a special one for many reasons, marking the end of a brilliant decade for music and the start of a new one that's bursting with possibilities. Since the last time we handed out our infamous, finger-flickin' trophies, we've seen superstars born and legends cemented. Our nominations show that the music scene is not only in the rudest possible health, it's also packed with young personalities who are reshaping the music industry in their image. We're especially humbled to be able to honour Glastonbury Festival's Emily Eavis with our Godlike Genius Award. She is, after all, the only person in Britain who throws a better party than we do.”

The 1975 will embark on a UK and Ireland tour in February and a European tour in the autumn to support new LP 'Notes On A Conditional Form', due on April 24. All tickets are on sale now.
