Lamb Of God Announce Self-Titled Eighth Studio Album, Share First Single Checkmate

Thursday, 06 February 2020 Written by Jon Stickler

Lamb Of God have lined up a spring release for their self-titled eighth studio album.

Produced by Josh Wilbur, the 10-track follow-up to 2015's 'VII: Sturm und Drang' and 2018's 'Legion: XX' — released under the Burn The Priest moniker, is scheduled to land on May 8 via Nuclear Blast Records in the UK/Europe and Epic Records in the US.

It marks the Richmond, Virginia metallers' first full-length with drummer Art Cruz who has been filling in live for former drummer Chris Adler since 2018. The record also boasts collaborations with Testament vocalist Chuck Billy on the song Routes and Hatebreed's Jamey Jasta on Poison Dream.

Take a look at the album's artwork, tracklist and new raging single, Checkmate, which comes with a video. Guitarist Mark Morton said:

"Checkmate brings together all the components of the Lamb Of God sound that we've been developing over the last two decades, but with the ambition and ferocity that comes with the start of a new chapter for our band. Re-energized and reignited, this is Lamb Of God 2020. We've never been more excited."

The band tour the UK and Europe this spring with Kreator and Powertrip. They'll also take over House of Vans in Chicago for a free special album announcement show on February 14. Find out more here.
