Nahko And Medicine For The People Announce New Album 'Take Your Power Back', Share Twisted Single

Nahko and Medicine for the People have announced a new album.
Recorded in Los Angeles and executive produced by Cut&Dry and Dan Fratoni, 'Take Your Power Back' is scheduled to arrive on May 15 through Medicine Tribe Records/SideOneDummy Records.
The news comes alongside the release of a poignant new single, Twisted, which in keeping with the world music group's tradition of releasing material to coincide with the lunar calendar, arrives ahead of the new moon in Pisces and Mercury in retrograde.
The track marries alt-rock with R&B piano melodies and follows the previously shared singles Lifeguard, Slow Down, and Garden. Nahko said:
"Even though a lot of us typically are holding on by the seat of our pants during this time, I’m grateful for the insight and reminder from Mystic Mamma that this is a time of deepening. “In Pisces, we can access the realms beneath the skin, that speaks to us directly from the vast sea of consciousness.” I love that.
"It’s no coincidence that the song we release today is right in line with the stars. So, may I present to you our new single and one of my favorite songs off the new album: Twisted
"If you thought you’d heard me be vulnerable before, this is on a whole different level. Definitely that new raw raw Medicine.
"We've all experienced it … and if you haven’t yet, you will. It’s that inflection point where you’re given the opportunity to face your shadows, come to terms with them, and step into the light by embracing your whole self.
"It takes courage to ask for help. I think a lot of us find ourselves in service to others because we care so deeply and then through some jarring awakening realize we’ve left our own needs in the dust. All too often that awakening comes at a cost. A breaking point occurs and the hard truths emerge. Time to circle back on the work of self care and self love. It’s a timeless struggle we all must journey. To love yourself for all that you are and all that you are not.
"So, this Aquarian is saying ‘see you next year’ to my season and bowing with honor to my water friends. It’s no small thing that this is the song that transitions me/us. Maybe you’ve noticed that I don’t like being in a box when it comes to music ( or anything for that matter ) and therefore I’m overwhelmed with excitement to release this totally new sound and songwriting. The group embark on an extensive international tour in 2020, including a London show at Bush Hall in May. Tickets go on sale at 10am on March 6.
