Public Service Broadcasting Announce London BBC Proms Live Album 'This New Noise'

Tuesday, 18 July 2023 Written by Jon Stickler

Public Service Broadcasting have announced a live album.

Slated for release through Test Card Recordings on September 8, 'This New Noise' captures the electronica group's BBC Proms show at London's Royal Albert Hall in 2022.

Remixed and remastered by Public Service Broadcasting founder J. Willgoose, Esq., the performance couples their unique epic soundscapes with the instrumentation of the 88-piece BBC Symphony Orchestra, conducted by Jules Buckley. Willgoose, Esq. said:

"At the time, not knowing if the Proms performance would be a true one-off, I tried to focus on enjoying the occasion as much as possible. It was a privilege to play with such skilled performers as the BBC SO and especially under such an astute guiding hand in Jules. I'm absolutely delighted that we're releasing 'This New Noise' in physical form, and remixing it allowed me to discover all over again the intricacy and dynamism of the orchestra's performance."

"For the BBC Symphony Orchestra, and for myself, to be able to make music with PSB was just beautiful," added Buckley. "The musical message from J. Willgoose, Esq. and the fellas from the band is as current and powerful now as it’s ever been. We can’t take for granted what we have, and I’m really proud we are able to deliver this orchestral performance from the BBC Proms to the public in record form."

As a teaser, head below to check out Broadcasting House from the album, which marks the second time Public Service Broadcasting have collaborated with the BBC Proms. In 2019, they performed an orchestral arrangement of their 2015 LP 'The Race For Space' with The Multi-Story Orchestra to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the first manned mission to the Moon.

Public Service Broadcasting's most recent album is 2021's 'Bright Magic'.
