Bret McKenzie Shares Title Track Of New Album 'Freak Out City', Confirms UK And US Shows For October

Bret McKenzie, best known for his band Flight Of The Conchords and their eponymous television show, has shared the title track of his upcoming solo album.
The eponymous track for 'Freak Out City', out on August 15, explores a whimsical approach to songwriting while showing off the Grammy and Academy Award-winning musician's vocal range. Head below to view the Ezra Simons-directed video, starring McKenzie as an office worker caught in the middle of a bizarre workday. He said:
"I love how reality unravels along with the song. We shot the video in Wellington over a couple of wintery days last month. I felt like I was in a surreal New Zealand episode of The Office."
McKenzie previously teased the record with the lead single, All I Need, which arrived last month along with initial details of the record.
He'll be accompanied by his live band, The State Highway Wonders, for performances at Los Angeles' Largo at The Coronet on October 10, Washington D.C's Miracle Theatre on October 14, New York's Le Poisson Rouge on October 17 and London's Bush Hall on October 21 and 22. The shows are his first since 2022, and tickets go on general sale at 10am local time on Friday (July 18).
